Nothing is more painful than a toothache! Whether you have regular dental problems or just struggle with a random bout of pain from a cavity, there are several natural ways to find some relief. You can actually treat toothaches, gingivitis, and even chronic bad breath at home with just a few simple ingredients.

Natural Remedies For Toothache
Cayenne and Ginger
Another easy way to relieve the pain is to mix equal parts of cayenne pepper and ginger. Add a tiny bit of water until you have a pasty consistency. Then saturate a cotton ball in the mixture and place it directly on the painful tooth. Be careful to avoid your gums and tongue or it could burn!
If you have a broken tooth or a cracked feeling, that exposed area can cause intense pain. A quick solution is to take some chewing gum and cover the crack until you can get to the dentist to have it repaired. This isn’t a long term answer, but it can ease your pain for an hour or so until you can get appropriate dental care.
This is an old trick I learned back in the junior high days of braces. When my mouth was hurting after an adjustment, my mom would dissolve a teaspoon of salt into a cup of hot water. Swish the water around in your mouth for a minute and then spit it out. Repeat as often as needed. The salt is cleansing and will draw out the fluid that causes gums to swell and hurt.
You can also do a mouth rinse with some warm tea made from peppermint leaves that have been steeped for 20 minutes. Make sure the tea is warm and not hot and then swish it around for about a minute and spit it out. The peppermint will numb up your mouth and offer instantaneous relief.
Did you know that Cloves oil can offer more pain relief than over the counter numbing gels? Even better, it is wholly natural and you can feel confident that you aren’t exposing yourself or your family to chemicals. Anytime you feel a painful toothache coming on, just rub a few drops directly to the tender spot with your finger or a Q-tip. You can also grind up whole cloves into a powder and then dab it on the painful area.
Garlic has extreme antibiotic properties and can help fight off infection and kill bacteria. Take a crushed clove of garlic and mix it with salt and pepper to make a paste. Then apply it directly to the painful tooth to get some relief. In a pinch, you can just chew a couple of cloves of garlic for quick relief.
